Unfortunately flooding in parts of the Khuzestan province in recent years, has been associated heavy human casualties and material losses, including in agriculture and infrastructure. Therefore in this study the eastern part of the Khuzestan province that include Hendijan city, Mahshahr port and part of Ramshahr and Omidiyeh has been studied. In the present study to assess the flood of object-oriented approach has tried to satellite images of Landsat 8 sensor OLI-related 16 Apr, 2017 flood accident, in the Khuzestan province be used .In this regard, before and after Images of flooding in the region, as well as layers of vegetation index NDVI prepared and the method of determining the threshold in scale 140 (shape index=0.4 & compactness index= 0.5) were analyzed. The results showed that a total of approximately 1248.45 Square kilometer from the study area equivalent to 28% of the whole area floods engulfed that compared with the total area is slightly higher. The accuracy of the results obtained (95% overall accuracy and kappa coefficient 93%) indicates the high capability of object-oriented process in the flood mapping.
